About Us
Welcome to the Hekigan Dojo, one of Bermuda's top martial arts schools. The Hekigan Dojo has been in operation since 1998 under the guidance of Shihan Chuck Renaud and the teaching of Sensei Scott Dunstan; both of whom have been students of the martial arts for over 65 years combined.
The Hekigan Dojo is part of the L.I. Ninjutsu Centers which is run by accomplished martial artist Kyoshi Allie Alberigo.
Chief Instructor - Sensei Scott Dunstan
Scott is currently an Underwriter and is also Treasurer of the Bermuda Martial Arts Federation which is the governing body for Martial Arts in Bermuda. Scott is a 1st degree black belt and Chief Instructor for the Hekigan Dojo. Scott has been training for over 25 years and has been a personal student of Kyoshi Allie for over 14 years. Sensei Scott has traveled to Japan to train extensively in classical Ninpo/Ninjutsu with Kyoshi and continues to train on a daily basis.
Shihan Chuck - founder - is a life-time resident of Bermuda. He has seen the growth and has helped to establish the martial arts over nearly three decades on this beautiful island. Shihan is a 6th degree
black belt in a variety of martial arts and has been teaching and passing on his knowledge.
He has trained Theresa Perrizo who is Bermuda's women's hopeful for Olympic boxing. Charles has been hailed as Bermuda's Coach CarterĀ because he trains youth in boxing three times a week in his own gym, free of charge. He runs the whole organization out of the kindness of his heart. Charles has a proven track record of youth initiatives in Bermuda and in fact Scott Dunstan is one of his first students over 25 years ago.
Hekigan is a name giving to the school by Kyoshi Allie
which means blue serene,
signifying the beautiful setting of Bermuda that the students get to train in.
